Is electrified fencing very expensive?
No. It’s very cost effective to maintain an electric fence as long as the vegetation is cut back and the fence is kept to standards

No. Cats and dogs generally stay away from electric fencing cats are extremely perceptive to electromagnetic fields. Dogs will not normally venture to close to a fence again once it’s been shocked before

Will my monthly electricity account increase?
No. The electric fencing systems draw very little power as much as a light bulb being on 24/7
What if an intruder places a blanket over the electric fence?
If any two wires touch on an electric fence the siren and strobe will activate
What happens during a power failure?
All our Energisers have a battery back up which lasts up to 8 hours this will keep your fence fully functioning during power outages
Should my vegetation be cut back from my electric fence?
Yes, all tree branches and vegetation should be cut back at least 350mm on both sides from the fence. If the foliage is touching the fence it will weaken the out put voltage and set off false alarms
What is the biggest advantage of electric fencing?
Electric fencing is a great way in protecting your family and loved ones not only is it an excellent deterrent visually it also offers a nasty shock
What would happen if the wires were cut?
An electric fence is wired in series which means if any wire has been cut the alarm and siren will activate
How do I put my sliding gate motor on manual?
Generally in South Africa, the most common sliding gate motors are either The centurion range of sliding gate motors or the ET nice sliding gate motor ranges. It’s highly likely one of these brands you would have If it’s the centurion range (eg) ◦ Centurion D5 ◦ Centurion D5 Evo The centurion range require a small key place the key in and unlock the door and open the door You will then notice a wheel once the door is open. On the wheel you will notice a diagram clockwise until tight or anti-clockwise to Engage the motor. Otherwise a JVN technician will always be willing to help ET nice motor range (eg) ◦ ET 500 ◦ Drive 500/600 The ET nice range also requires a small key. Place the key in the lock and unlock the door. Once it’s unlocked, pull the lever towards you. The gate will now be on manual. Otherwise, a JVN technician will always be willing to help
Does my sliding gate motor have battery backup?
Yes. All sliding gate motors JVN supplies, and Installs have a battery back up for up to at least 6 to 8 hours.
Do I need to Install anti lifts on my gate?
Yes. It’s one of the most important things to have on a sliding gate. This prevents an intruder from lifting your sliding gate and taking it off the track.
Why is my gate motor so slow?
When a sliding gate motor is running slower than normal, it usually means there is no power and the motor is operating on the battery and not direct 220vac ◦ Make sure no circuit breakers have tripped on the electric board ◦ Double-check the gate motor is plugged in at the dedicated place
What are safety beams?
Safety beams are installed on either side of the sliding gate a few inches from the ground. The sensors are activated when the gate is closing once the sensor picks up an object Eg, a car, the gate will stop closing and reopen until the next action.
